now for something funny

I don't get online much. I've been going through the forwards I get sent and found this one. It made me laugh so much!

*****

Tickle Me Elmo:
There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys.
The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms.
Well, Lena is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 am.
The next day at 8:45 am there is a knock at the personnel manager's door.
The foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee.
He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up,
putting the entire production line behind schedule.
The personnel manager decides to see this for himself, so the 2 men march
down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that
there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really
beginning to pile up. At the end of the line stands Lena surrounded by
mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's.

She has a roll of plush red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.
The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric,
wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs.
The personnel manager bursts into laughter.

After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Lena.
"I'm sorry," he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face,
"but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday..."
'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.'

Hooray!

Guess what I did today! I was able to get our 4Runner registered! The registration had expired in July. . . ): but now... it's legal! I, unfortunately, was driving it unregistered when I was pulled over a few months ago. I now have a big ol' ticket with my name on it. I have to reschedule my court date now that I have a J-O-B! (: haha, i just learned a new smiley I: haha, it looks like a chubby kid smiling. I love it! I;

I'm attempting to upload pictures from my camera, but I had to charge the battery and find the cable. The battery holds a charge for about ten minutes... and I'm not exaggerating!

Check out my sister's blog: www.xanga.com/rainfall_fj

She's coming to visit me soon!

no time

I just have no time these days. I love, love, love my new job. Yesterday they brought in pizza for lunch and they had a masseuse that gave everyone 15 minute chair massages! AH! It was the best. And today there is supposed to be a Wii competition!? What the heck?

The bad thing is that I'm tired all the time. That's no fun. A tired Cora is a cranky Cora.

I've missed my computer time and my tv time. But a paycheck is very much worth it.

Thanksgiving was great!

Christmas, here we come!
On Wednesday, I worked. I went home, picked up the hubby and we drove 2hrs, 45 min to Hanford, CA to spend the night with my Grandma. Then next day we went to breakfast at IHOP. Then we dropped off Grandma at home and the two of us went to my cousin's house for Thanksgiving dinner. It was us, my Aunt Nina, Uncle Dave, Cousin Roddy and his wife Kim, their kids, Brianna and Joseph. There was also a neighbor kid named Jonathan and Kim's parents. And one other lady that I don't remember her name or relation (sorry).
We ate til we were stuffed then we got out some cards and played Nertz until 8 or so. Kim was going to go to a movie around 9:30pm and then she was going black friday shopping! Crazy!
Joam and I went back to Grandma's and sat with her for a bit. The next day we went to breakfast with my Aunt Nina and Grandma... then we went to JC Penney's so Grandma could buy me some work clothes for Christmas. (: I saved $158!

I think I'm missing some things but I have to go. I'll edit and update soon.

My New Job

I love my new job! I sit in a cubicle and I have a stack of papers with a number on them. I put that number into a program that pulls up a person's name, address, dob, and dl#. then i enter that info into another form on my second monitor. then I click print and put the report with the first paper. then i'm on to the next one! haha, super boring, but awesomely easy.

BUT after lunch my boss stopped by my desk... which is a rarity. I really could go the whole day without talking to a SOUL! anyways, she stopped by and was like, when you get to a stopping point and need a break, come by my office.

My heart started pounding!!! Did I mess something up? No, she would have told me. She wouldn't have let me continue doing something wrong. I was working fast to finish my current pile to get in there to find out. Twenty minutes later I pop in there and she's like, First off, let me tell you that you are doing a great job. (: Well, the short version is that I'll not be doing the boring data entry anymore. I'll be moved to the scanning room! Which is sorting, scanning, filing, etc. I'm going to consider it a promotion! (:

I now have to show up at 7:30am instead of 8am. Which means I'll have to leave at 6:30am instead of 7am. Which means I'll have to wake up at 5:30am instead of 6am. crazy.

Some of the things I like about waking up early: coffee, having a schedule which helps me remember to take a vitamin, listening to www.robarnieanddawn.com (:

The things I don't like about having a job: not having as much time online as i was spending, not having time to hang out with hubby who just got back from hawaii, not having as much time to watch the television that i've been sucked into! I used to watch 2, 3 shows at the MOST! and now, there's something "good" on just about every night!

ok, i'm off to play left4dead with my little brother and husband.

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I got the job!

I start today. How crazy that I've been looking for a job for about four months now and I finally get one that starts the day my husband gets back from a two month trip to Hawaii!?! ):

AAAAAAAAAnd, I got a call from Target offering me a job about thirty minutes after I accepted the temp one! Which is probably a good thing, but hey... target! I could have had a discount.

birthdays, birthdays

Tomorrow is my aunt-in-law's birthday (Chris) and my cousin's (Michelle) and then the next day is my sister's (Jamie) and then a few days later is my mom-in-law's (Teresa) and my friends' birthday (Liz and Andrew) and the day after that is my cousin-in-law's birthday (Kelsey)!

What happened nine months ago? Valentine's Day, that's what. At least that's my theory. Nine months prior to November is February, right? I have one word for you, "ew" (;

haha, just kidding about the "ew," I think it would be kind of cool knowing that you were the product of celebrating love. Well, I guess baby making is a celebration of love, usually. But you know what I mean.

I just wanted to give you something to read!

my friends

ok, before i post about the mystery trip... (i'm waiting for pictures *cough*Robyn*cough*)

Some people I knew when I lived in Texas are in a band and they are going to take over the world one day... Eisley. Recently they were asked to perform at the local news station and here are two of their songs. My total favorite is Go Away. The other one is awesome, too. please take a moment to watch and listen. This is only 3 out of 5 of the band members. The one on the right is Sherry, she is sassy. The middle one is Stacy, she is shy. The one on the left is Chauntelle, she is serendipitous? I couldn't think of another s-word. The other band mates are the drummer Weston and the bass player Garron. They are brother and sisters and Garron is their cousin. Lovely family, truly lovely. The mom and dad have been mentors for me for the many, many years I lived in Texas. Their little siblings have been fun to play with. They have a beautiful house in East Texas that is always so welcoming.

for those of you that don't know, i used to live in a small town two hours east of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. the place i worked at for most of my time out there facilitated short term missions trips for young people (ages 13-18, with the leaders being older). Anyways, each summer 2,000-4,000 of them would fly from their home states to the great country of Texas were one of the staff members would pick them up and shuttle them to the campus for their training. from the campus they would then need shuttled back to the airport to fly to where ever it was they were going to go. and then they flew back from places like Africa, New Zealand, El Salvador, etc. then then were shuttled from the airport to the campus for "debriefing" and then they were shuttled back to the airport to fly home.

yeah, all that to say that i was at the airport many, many, many times. and i loved it. learning how to get from one side of the airport to the other the quickest way possible. i no longer work for that place. and since then, they have built a beautiful new terminal and a new tram system. i'm jealous. (:

boring post just because.

i work in a scrapbook store. we have a public bathroom, single potty, with a door that locks. one day i came in to work on a saturday morning around 9:45am to open the store at 10am. i take out the garbage and usually clean up the bathroom. the night before ladies are scrapbooking until 1 or 2am! anyways. this one morning there was a dried up puddle of pee on the floor next to the toilet. yeah, dried up so it had to have been from the night before. now they are there late so i don't expect the previous employee (usually one of the owners) to inspect every square inch of the store. no problem. i clean it up and tell her.

then, another day i come in early on a week day to cover the store for a few hours so the owners can go to some meeting or something. well, i get there and the owner is helping a customer so i go around checking things out and sure enough... there is... no lie... a piece of dried up crap lying on the floor in the bathroom! so i tell her about it and she can't believe it. i told her i'm not going to work after her ever again! which, totally isn't possible.

so this past saturday when i got in to the store, i was like,... i bet she did something funny in the bathroom this time. but i went about my morning taking out the garbage and forgot to peek in the bathroom. lo and behold a bit later she comes in and says "did you look in the bathroom yet?" i ran to the bathroom and said, "i KNEW it" sure enough there was the word poop on the seat of the potty!

hahaha. well, i thought it was funny. :^P

update on my cousin, Joshua

From my uncle:

On Thursday, Joshua visited the surgeon and other doctors who saw him thru surgery. His blood pressure is doing much better. The will be reducing medicine for it.
His back is healing and everything looks good.
He can take a bath – YEAH!!
He cannot twist his hips or bend (NO CHUBBY CHECKER MUSIC)
He still need to wear his brace.
Follow up will be in 8 weeks.
Still continue to pray for healing
The plan is still to start college in January
The need for independence is much concern.

Swimming Season is Almost Over!

I think it's just three more weeks left at the local pool for lap swim. I hope we'll be able to find another pool that's year round. My cousin-in-law mentioned one in Lodi that's indoors.

Also, oh my gosh! I just went over to the Austin City Limits page to tell you what place Quiet Company ended up in and... the DIDN'T make it to the top 5! ): No way! They were top one and two but they didn't make it. My day is ruined. I'm sure they are so sad over there. I posted a video and everything! So, so, so sad. They missed 5th place by a little over 200 votes.

I'm sorry Taylor and Leah Muse (and the rest of the guys in the band).

Friday, September 12, 2008

Last request?

Hopefully that video works. (: You'll be able to see the adorable couple I mentioned before.

So Joam leaves for Hawaii in 11 days. He'll be gone for 3 months.

In other news... what happened to Judge David Young? There was some judge karen on today instead and I'm freaking out.

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

16 votes in the lead

There's a few more days of the Austin City Limits contest and Quiet Company is only 16 votes in the lead! ahhhhhhhhhhh, how crazy. Now I can see why Leah (pronounced lay-ah, like in Star Wars) was saying the competition is stressful.

As for me, I'm searching for a part time job to supplement my income. Anyone know of something I can do in the mornings until 2pm? Preferably in the Elk Grove area. Preferably not in the arena of food preparation or serving. (:

I'm off to apply at wal-mart. Think they'll let me be a greeter? (:

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

Keep voting!

So my request for votes may have backfired. Quiet Company is now in second place. ): If they win they will get to play at/on Austin City Limits. How many of you have flipped through the channels and stumbled upon a band playing that show? ME! Well then, you must, as I have just done three times, vote! Whether or not you vote, take a second to listen to Quiet Company's music. It's very good (and clean!). http://www.myspace.com/quietcompany

In other news... Here is what my life is like currently:
Sundays, either sleep in or go the family gathering for "Waffles"
Mondays, sleep in... do laundry, maybe swim some laps
Tuesdays, sleep in... drive to Roseville, teach scrapbooking to kids in Roseville's after school program, maybe swim some laps
Wednesdays, sleep in... hang out with cousin and her cute baby, maybe swim some laps
Thursdays, sleep in... drive to Roseville, teach scrapbooking to kids in Roseville's after school program, maybe swim some laps
Fridays, sleep in... no plans, maybe swim some laps
Saturdays, wake up at 8am, leave the house by 9am, drive to West Sacramento to work at the Scrapbook Addict from 10am until 6pm, then find some dinner

Yeah, that's pretty much all I do these days. I've kind of resorted back to hermit life. Which I almost never get out of completely. I'd like to wake up early again and walk in the mornings. But lately with the schedule I've been keeping I can't fall asleep before 2am anymore. Boo! The pool in Galt will be closing soon so I'll be out of a pool to swim in.

My hubby leaves for Hawaii in a few weeks. On the 23rd, to be exact. My goal while he's gone is to play more and lose weight. I dusted off my mom-in-law's old juicer and am wanting to do more of that. The only recipe I've made so far is one with granny apples and carrots. I may check out the library for juicing books.

Ok, I'm off to find my friend Brittany so I can cancel a swim pass for Elk Grove that I haven't been using. Tah-tah!

updates

Hello... Here's an update from my uncle regarding my cousin who went in for surgery on Sept 3rd. It had something to do with him having Osteogenesis Imperfecta and his bones not making room for his organs. (in a nutshell)

Today around 1:30 They took the ventilator off.
They turned his medications down low so that he would wake up and be able to breath on his own first. As soon as he was alert he wanted the tubes out of his mouth. After they took the tube out of his mouth he was able to talk. Complaining about being thirsty and hungry. Mainly thirsty.
We know that God is hearing prayers and healing him.
We ask to continue praying now for his nausea to go all away and that they can take more of the IVs off and the central line in his chest.

Also... for those of you who are Scrapbookers in Action!!!!! When's our next race? I say the October 5th, Cowtown Race. What about training? Races are expensive but training doesn't have to be! Well, except for the price of gas, you know. :P My first suggestion is one that Helen made: let's meet at the park by the sac zoo on Sunday mornings. Not too early though! What about 10am? Ok... now I want to hear yeahs or nays. And/Or other suggestions. We have to meet somewhere central to Galt, Elk Grove, South Sac, and wherever it is that A. is from! (:

Even if we don't do a race, lets get together (yeah, yeah, yeah) and get to steppin'!

Hooray for Friends!

One of my favorite things about being in the Sacramento area is meeting family and friends of my husband's. Tonight we tried to make it to a birthday party for some kids of Joam's old youth pastor. We, semi-unfortunately made it there late. But the good thing about it was that we got to hang out with them all to ourselves! (:

I am very blessed to now know the Hartman family and to have gotten to love them as if I've always known them.

My Cousin is Going to have Surgery

If you have facebook, here's a group to join:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26918852125&ref=nf

My cousin, Joshua Dean, is going in for surgery on Sept 3 and I wanted to stop and ask that for those of you that do, please pray for him. Specifically for peace as he is going in.

The only photo I have of him and I is one from Thanksgiving 2006. We look retarded but I was running around the house getting people to do funny stuff with me. So he's making a silly face and I'm eating some food. (:

Joshua has Osteogenisis Imperfecta. I'm not sure what type, but I think it's one of the lower ones. He's having some surgery in/on his rib cage to make room for his growing organs. He seems to be in good spirits but it's still very scary.
Did you ever see that movie Unbreakable with Bruce Willis? Well, it's that same thing that Samuel Jackson's character had. It's just that the guy in the movie didn't have it as bad. I actually have three cousins with it, J.C., Joshua, and Nathan. J.C. and Joshua have the same type, I think. And Nathan is more like the guy in the movie.

My birthday was awesome!

My birthday was Saturday, August 2nd but it started WAY before that!

On Thursday night during our Card Makers Anonymous class they brought cupcakes and purple-tinis. My friend got me Connect 4!
On Friday, my friend bought me lunch... Panda Express and another friend gave me one of those books with weird pictures of cats. I love it!
Friday night my mom-in-law took me (and hubby) to Chili's in Lodi where we met up with father-in-law, grandma-in-law, aunt-in-law, cousin-in-law, cousin-in-law's baby, cousin-in-law's baby's daddy. (: Much fun. The waiter even came out singing with a shake "the bad news is you're getting older, the good news is the shake is free!" Then we all went back to mom-in-law's house to play SingStar.
Saturday morning me and hubby headed for Fresno for the Bountiful Babes pool party at my cousin's house. Lots of fun. I have some photos:
the bountiful babes!
My aunt Nina and me
Us doing our cannon balls!
my cousin's cool water feature
our cute cabana boy!

There's more but I'll be back....
